My old Dayton home has stone foundation openings that aren't a standard size — can you still fit a hopper?
Yes, that's exactly why we measure and build custom. Older Dayton foundations rarely have square, standard openings, so we size each hopper to the actual stone or block hole. That's how we get a clean seal on a wall that a stock-size window would never fit.
What is a hopper window?
A window hinged at the bottom that tilts inward at the top to open. It’s the standard style for basement and other small below-grade openings.
Do hopper windows keep water out?
When closed they seal tight against the frame. We also flash the opening properly so wind-driven rain and ground moisture stay outside.
Can hopper windows be an egress exit?
