Queensgate is low near the river. Will a hopper hold back ground moisture?
It's designed to. The sash pulls flush against continuous weatherstrip with a multi-point lock, so when it's shut, ground water and damp air stay outside. And because the frame is vinyl rather than steel, it won't corrode over years of sitting against a wet foundation wall.
What is a hopper window?
A window hinged at the bottom that tilts inward at the top to open. It’s the standard style for basement and other small below-grade openings.
Do hopper windows keep water out?
When closed they seal tight against the frame. We also flash the opening properly so wind-driven rain and ground moisture stay outside.
Can hopper windows be an egress exit?
Standard hoppers are usually too small for egress. If you need a code-compliant basement egress window, we can spec one — just ask at the consultation.
