Will a bay window facing the river hold up to the damp down here?
It will, because we fully flash and insulate every face of the projection, which is exactly where older bays failed and let moisture in. The triple-pane Low-E glass resists condensation, and the fusion-welded vinyl frame will not rot or swell the way the old wood units along River Road did.
What’s the difference between a bay and a bow window?
A bay is three windows — a picture window flanked by two angled units — for a boxier projection. A bow uses four or more equal units curved into a gentle arc. Bays feel bolder; bows feel softer.
Can a bay window replace my old picture window?
Often, yes — it’s a popular upgrade. It does involve exterior work to build the projection and flashing, which we scope and price at the free consultation.
Are bay windows drafty?
Old ones were, usually from poor flashing. We insulate and flash the projection properly and use triple-pane glass, so a new bay seals as tight as any other window.
