My house on the Delhi ridge gets pounded by wind. Are casements really tighter than the double-hungs I have now?
They are. A double-hung seals with a friction fit that wind can work past, but a casement's multi-point lock clamps the sash flat to the weatherstrip and the wind pressure only presses it tighter. On an exposed hilltop lot that makes a noticeable difference in drafts.
Are casement windows better than double-hung?
