My Millvale windows rattle in the wind. Can new double-hungs stop that?
Usually the rattle is loose sashes in a worn frame with failed weatherstripping. Our double-hungs seat both sashes tight against fresh weatherstripping in a fusion-welded frame, so they stay put on a gusty valley evening. Less rattle, and far less draft.
Are double-hung windows energy efficient?
Modern double-hungs are. Ours use triple-pane Low-E glass, argon fill, and insulated frames with a tight weatherstrip — a world apart from the drafty single-pane double-hungs they usually replace.
Can I clean them from inside?
