Double-Hung Windows FAQs
My Northgate double-hung fogs up between the panes. Does the whole window need replacing?
Fog between the glass means the seal failed and the insulating gas has leaked out, so that sash no longer insulates. On some windows the glass unit can be swapped, but if the sash and balances are worn too, a new double-hung is the smarter spend. Ours use triple-pane glass and a warranty that covers the seal, and we will give you the honest option for your window.
Are double-hung windows energy efficient?
Modern double-hungs are. Ours use triple-pane Low-E glass, argon fill, and insulated frames with a tight weatherstrip — a world apart from the drafty single-pane double-hungs they usually replace.
Can I clean them from inside?
Yes. Both sashes tilt inward, so you can wash the outside glass from inside the room — no ladder, no leaning out.
