Garden Windows FAQs
We have a newer home in an Independence subdivision. Is a garden window worth it over the builder window?
Most builder-grade windows are a basic double-pane flat unit, so you gain both the greenhouse box and a real jump in glass performance. Our triple-pane Low-E garden window with argon fill runs warmer and drier than the original, and you get a plant shelf and three sides of light on top of that.
Where do garden windows go?
Almost always over the kitchen sink, where the projecting shelf and extra light do the most good. They can go elsewhere, but the kitchen is the classic spot.
Do garden windows open?
The side panels typically open to vent, while the front and top are fixed glass to hold in heat and let in light.
