Glass Block Windows in College Hill

College Hill is a settled hilltop neighborhood of brick and frame homes with finished basements and older bath windows. Glass block gives those spaces privacy and a solid, maintenance-free panel while keeping the daylight flowing in. Call (513) 657-2471.

College Hill

Glass Block Windows for College Hill homes

The 45224 housing stock mixes early-1900s homes with solid postwar brick around Hamilton and North Bend, and many owners have finished off the basement over the years. The catch is the original basement windows — small steel units that have rusted or wood ones that have swelled — sitting in a space you now actually use. Upstairs, the bath windows on these older lots tend to face the neighbor.

A glass block panel is the fix for both. It lets daylight into a finished basement or a small bathroom while blocking the view, and it never rusts, warps, or needs paint. We seal and flash it against ground and shower moisture, so a finished lower level stays dry. Where the laundry sits downstairs, we can set a dryer vent right into the block so nothing has to be rerouted.

Glass Block Windows

Privacy, Light, and Security in One

Glass block is the practical answer for basements and bathrooms: it brings in daylight, keeps prying eyes and intruders out, and never needs painting. We can add a vent for airflow and even a small dryer vent where you need one.

Want the bigger picture? Pair it with replacement windows or a new entry door, and ask about rolling it into one 0%-for-24-months project. For efficiency ratings, the Energy Star program is a good reference.

Common questions

Glass Block Windows FAQs

Will glass block hold up better than the rusted steel window in my College Hill basement?

By a wide margin. Glass block has no metal frame to corrode, so it won't rust out the way that old steel unit did. It's mortared solid, sealed against moisture, and built to sit in that opening for the life of the house without maintenance.

Are glass block windows more secure?

Yes — a mortared glass block panel is much harder to break through than a standard thin basement window, which is why they’re popular for below-grade security.

Can glass block windows open?

The panel itself is solid, but we can build in a small operable vent for airflow, and a dryer vent where the laundry needs one.

Where are glass block windows used?

Most often in basements and bathrooms — anywhere you want light plus privacy and security without a view in.
