Can you replace the old aluminum slider on my Bellevue house with something that doesn't stick?
Yes, that's one of the most common swaps we do here. The new sash rides on a smooth, low-friction track instead of the pitted aluminum channel, so it glides with one finger. The vinyl frame also won't conduct cold the way the old metal did, so the sweating and the drafts go away too.
Are sliding windows energy efficient?
With triple-pane Low-E glass and quality weatherstripping, yes. The sash still seals against the frame; ours are built for Tri-State temperature swings.
