I'm in a Downtown loft on an upper floor — how do sliding windows get cleaned safely?
The sashes lift out from the inside, so you clean both sides standing in your own unit with no reaching out over the street. On an upper floor that's the only sensible way to do it. It's one of the main reasons sliders work so well in high-rise and loft settings.
Are sliding windows energy efficient?
With triple-pane Low-E glass and quality weatherstripping, yes. The sash still seals against the frame; ours are built for Tri-State temperature swings.
Where do sliding windows work best?
Wide, shorter openings — above counters, in basements, bedrooms, and along the back of the house where you want an easy, low-profile window.
