Our Mount Adams place is on a steep lot — is there any safe way to clean windows on the downhill side?
That's where a slider earns its keep. The sashes tilt out from inside, so you wash both sides standing in the room instead of trying to reach glass that hangs over a hillside drop. For a house on a grade this steep, it's the only cleaning method that makes sense.
Are sliding windows energy efficient?
With triple-pane Low-E glass and quality weatherstripping, yes. The sash still seals against the frame; ours are built for Tri-State temperature swings.
Where do sliding windows work best?
